Great looking ray. If it wasn't for the fact they get so large I would have way more castexi. Lol, I was just about to ask about the tail. None of my rays have tails even close to as thick as my oto. How much do you have to feed it now?

Oddly my "Mantilla" has a tail almost twice as thick, base is about the same as my wrist.
She usually calms down after 4 smelts or a half dozen pieces of shrimp, then comes back after about 5 min looking for more.
She's also much less timid around me then the Marbles. If I hand feed she actually pounces on my hand. The Marbles are very cautious and usually choose to stay clear.

I am still not convinced that castexi get as large in the aquarium as people say. I am a big fan of castexi and will say they are my favorite rays. I know of a couple big ones but they are few and far between. Castexi are known for large powerful tails more so than huge disk size and they grow pretty fast. I have seen Leos which is a ray everyone wants bigger then any castexi I have seen. I would bet the Leos at the Shedd are 30" diameter. Then you have tigers and flowers that will probably out grow castexi in size as well. The one thing I will say about castexi and DB can back this up is they are very aggressive eaters. I have one that will attack the glass just at the site of you walking in front of the tank. They will jump on other rays and scatter food all over the tank trying to get one piece. You could feed them every couple of hours and they act like they are starved. Now the males I have are a lot more docile. The females seem to be the aggressive ones.
