I would recommend cutting the tile to fit, and having a black background. The tile in my tank isn't white, but it is a very light shade of gray, and with the black background it stands out. Either way you go, it will look great!
i will cut the tile to fit i just have to get a wet saw first...i might be switching to marble first though...
