In an Aquabid shipment, I received a white's tree frog tadpole by accident.

Even though he wasn't planned, I'm still wanting to grow him out, raise him, and keep him as a pet.

I found some information on raising them from tadpole stage and I've put him in a 5g guppy tank so I can watch carefully for when his legs come in so I can adjust his environment accordingly.

Can anyone advise on what all I need to do for him? I know they're terrestrial as frogs, but I'd love any pointers to care for him properly and raise him to froghood.

I knew which seller the tadpole had come from so I e-mailed her and asked:)

I found him on Thanksgiving, so I named him "Gobbles" after the turkey on South Park.

Take out the gravel, put down some leaf litter, a small filter, some aquatic plants and feed every 3-4 days. No water changes are needed.

Did this seller breed whites tree frogs?

What is leaf litter? Sorry for the dumb question, but I've never even researched frogs until I found this little cutie.

I think she breeds them. When I e-mailed her, she said she thought she'd gotten all the tadpoles out of the tank before she netted the fish.

Magnolia leaves, indian almond leaves, sea grape leaves, etc.

Alot of frog websites sell them. Hint hint. Make sure it is washed and rinsed well.

She keeps white tree frog tads in with fish? When they have tads they have thousands of tads. Lots of tads to be keeping in with fish.

Thank you so much, Kearth! I really appreciate your help with this!

I bookmarked your site:)

When I found him, I panicked. I wanted to know what species he was, make sure he was legal in GA, if he was a pet species or if I needed to contact a wildlife center, and when I found out what he was, what his caretaking requirements were.

They are an awesome frog. Great beginner frog as well. Any questions you have let me know I am happy to help

Not a whole lot of people take the time to breed the whites so kudos to the lady you got him from as well. I am slowly working on building up my group and plan to try my hand at it this spring.

Nice! - looking forward to updates...
