Ex-girlfriends dad about 7 years ago.

He started up a 180 gallon SW, and I was hooked. At that point in time, I wasn't able to afford SW, so I went to PetSmart and got a 55. Put it on top of my triple dresser, and here I am. 7 years later.

My Uncle had a killer Managuensis and i loved watching him feed it, I wanted a tank.. then i got a gift from my uncle, 55G setup with everything i needed, cept fish... been hooked ever since..

...because they reminded her of sperm (we're perverts:headbang2 ). I caught myself staring at her...

What do these remind her of? And too much of a good thing can cause weight gain in the belly area.

The person who got me into the hobby was an unknown worker at the Dr. Pet Center in the Merritt Island Mall when I was a kid... They needed to make room and dumped some tanks in the parking lot. My brother and I scooped up some fish in cups from the near by trash can and took the fish home. My brother had an albino cory cat and I got a pregnant guppy. It turned into a large family of guppies :D

The guppies didn't last forever but they were replaced with some brook trout that we caught in a small stream down the road. The tank stayed empty after a move and then met its demise when my sister kicked the side in. :irked:

I was fishless until someone told me of a 100g tank in a guys back yard. I stopped by and offered him $200 for the tank and stand. It had a UGF that I fitted with power heads. I set it up as salt and went to the Florida Keys with my brother on a fish collecting trip. That tank was set up at the family business until after I had left the company. That tank is now in the back yard but it is now my brothers. It is empty :(

Dude , thats just precious. You will be seeing that quote in my signature in the future. So f**king classic that I nearly pi$$ed myself.

I used to keep S/A cichlids when I was a kid along with LMBs, Blugill, Crappie, and channel cats in a 40g then motocross took over. Was out of the hobby till 10 months ago (for 25 years), I sort of quit drinking(difficult when you are a bar manager) and my boss kicked me down a 29 with all the trimmings and some nice driftwood, got back into the S/A cichlids again. Now Im keeping like 6 tanks (as of this week) like 400 gallons of fish, mostly heavily plantedtanks. I just sort of put a little of the funds that I was spending on suds, and put them into fishkeeping. I also have NO problem kicking my friends whole 29g setups just to spread the addiction. Im already seeing some of them in this forum.
I do notice now how much things have changedin 25 years, the selection of fish and fish available are totally different. I dont think that flowerhorns, parrot cichlids, and any other god awful hybrid had even been cloned yet.

my family was renovating the basement in order to make me and my brother our own rooms that were seperated by a curtain. my mom said that we could put a fish tank in the middle of the rooms so that me and my brother could both see it. we went to petsmart and i said i wanted 2 oscars, 2 swordtails, 2 twig catfish, and some other fish. i wasn't buying anything then, i was just kinda dreaming. anyways, i get home and do some research and i decided that i wanted to breed oscars, and then festaes, and then my mom found 4 35 gallon tanks on eBay and told me to get them instead of a big tank. i am now saving for a nice 90 gallon tank.

Always loved fish... always been fishing... didnt how to properly keep a tank untill about a year ago and now i cant get enough

My father was a fish guy he bred goldfish bubble eyes shubunkin and comets aswell as koi in outdoor ponds and i grew up around them til age 6 then we moved and left all the fish and the hobby behind. When i was 14 i meet a new freind that liked amphibians and next thing i know i got newts and fire belly frogs pacman frogs that led to alot of lfs time.At this lfs they had a pair of the biggest meanist jags in the whole world i swear the big male looked like he was 2' but u know how things can look when u are a kid everything is big.At 15 i finaly talked my mom into letting me get a real tank and went to that lfs got a 55 and 2 of those awsome jag pairs baby's that inspired me so much i still have never seen a jag that can compair to those and may never will.
