I was watching some videos on youtube of endli's and ornates chomping down live feeders but I have never fed any of my bichirs live food except crickets and worms. But feeder fish I view as being nasty and quite dangerous to feed to expensive fish (80 dollars each for my endli's is expensive to me :)

So who has not ? Who has? If so what were your results?

i havent i just feed mines live earthworm, live mealworm, live blackworm

I tried it once just to see what would happen. I don't see much of a point to it though.

never have. mine chows on hikari cichlid gold, prawn, squid, frozen bloodworm, algae sticks and paprika/garlic pellets.

I tried once when I went away on holiday, I put a bunch of tetras in a tank with three smallish ornates, hoping they'd just pick them off over the week as they got hungry, instead they ate them all in one night, got incredibly fat and regurgitated half of them!

And you also need an option of "yes, but not intentionally" for all of us who under-estimated the size of our bichirs mouths....

Never have and never will

Ditto with Liz. My senegal bichir resides in the pond and does not get feeder fish at all. I figured he eats anything he can find in my pond and he is 10-12 inches in length.

lol it was on my mind! I had a senegal pick off three giant danio's in one night after the poor danio's had cycled my tank. And as listed above he regurgitated them :(

Thanks for your replies fellas and ladies. I dont feel as paranoid anymore. A lot of other bichir owners I know feed almost exclusively live.
