Who Has Sampled Their Aquatic Pets In The Kitchen?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bet they are. We should have a hunting season for humans. We would actually be doing a good thing for the species, way overpopulated. They are a pain to keep outta the crop feilds to.

you tell em Dargath. he raises animals for the food trade, yet couldnt eat a fish. hmmmmmmm weird. but hey everyone has an opinion. and the idea on the book. RIGHT ON!!! ill hook you up if it ever comes around.hahaha

Yeah, I raise animals for the food trade, not the pet trade. There is a difference. When a farm animal is born I know exactly where is will end up.

oh ok. im sorry that i hurt your feelings for eating my poor pet fishy. sure is great to be on the TOP of the food chain though huh. and i have 2 dogs and a cat that i love. i have a kingsnake that is cool and that i interact with all the time. Those fish that i ate and the 20 or so other aquarium fish ive ate had no emotional impact on me and they looked tasty as i have been a fish eater since birth. hahaha. i cant believe you take those poor cows and slaughter them mercilessly, they are tasty though. Thats why i eat em. im a carnivore that has to eat some vegetables now and then. what can i say, i like meat. i have worked at 3 LFS's and seen a lot of fish that were basically just killed and thrown out because noone could find them a home. i see people buy fish they cant care for all the time. i mean who has room to actually grow a rtc or arapima to full size. i work right by sea world in san diego, and talk with the people running their fish programs. they have probably 10 people a week calling to see if they will take in their beautiful 2.5 foot rtc or 3 foot longnose gar. no room for em people. what are ya gonna do. kill em and throw em away. EAT EM!!!! thats what i do. how about you. what would you do SANDTIGER. im assuming you own one as well. what if it got too big. and noone could take it. how would you treat the situation???

For starters...I would not buy a fish that would outgrown my tank so I would never be in this situation. Personally...I think there should be laws against selling fish like RTC and arapaima. By not buying them I am not supporting thier continued sail. When I buy a fish or any animal I am taking that animal's life into my hands, it is my responsability to provide it with a decent home for its life span, I would never think of getting a fish that would outgrow my tank. Red devils are called devils for a reason, remember that when you buy them. What else would you expect from a large aggresive cichlid? I would not buy one and say "Wow...what a mean fish, I should eat it" when I already knew what I was getting in to.

Don't feel bad about hurting my feelings because trust me, my feelings are not hurt. Just because I don't agree with what you did does not mean I am sitting here crying "That guy ate his devils".

It is great to be on top of the food chain but keep this in mind. If ever you have a relative get killed by a wild animal don't seek out vengence on it like most people do...its just the food chain. Humans like to preach how great our statis is until we are truely put in our place by a crocodile, tiger, bear or shark. Then we get all upset and go on mass killing spree. If we truely are comfortable with our place on the food chain then another human being eaten would not be a big deal.

Just for clarification. I have no problem with meat eating or people who eat meat. I have a problem with factory farms and other cruel institutions like them. Thats why I can watch a cow die and not shed a tear but am still vegetarian.

for your info ive had devils many times amomng other meaner larger fish. the fact that i could not find a suitable home for them to go to is the point i am making. what could i do, bring them to a pet store and get minimal credit and know that more than likely my devils will suffer and die a premature death. try and sell them on MFK. no takers. so what to do with your fish that get too big or mean or boring or whatever. say you want something new, and have NO more room for more tanks. you have to humanely euthanize the animal. they do it to stray dogs akll the time. well im not gonna let my money or fish go to waste. im gonna eat the bastard because i can. it is my hobby. my dogs and cat are my pets. there is a difference. i feel bad for fish that are abused by no water changes or being fat and deformed due to being fed a diet of nothing more than goldfish. i feel bad for fish kept in quarters that their owners wouldnt feel comfortable in if they were the fish. BUT. and again the BIG BUT!!! My fish were in no way abused. they were humanely killed and then ate. no waste. i got my money out of my fish and it served this world a purpose other than just being a creature confined to a glass box for our viewing pleasure. It made me full and tasted good. my question to you was what do you do if you have no takers for your big fish, have no more room for tanks, and want other stuff. will you have the same fish for life or do you give them away and not worry about them once you get something new to keep you happy. tell me. i said i will give them to a GOOD home if i can find one. if not ill sell them, and if there are no buyers im gonna eat it. what do you do
