who has the biggest and oldest BGK

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah true true..
but im getting worried about the BGK anyways, its the smallest fish in the tank right now and im getting a 200G tank in a week or two because all the others are getting so big...
There are a few that are capable of eating the BGK but nobody shows any interest in him.
I will probably not be having any other tanks after i get the 200G so im not sure what to do with the guy :P

Does your BGK eat good..come out at all the feedings.. i think that is the most important thing.. because they are known to wither away and eventually starve themselves.. so if he is very timid about coming out i would definitly bring him back to LFS or find another home for him.. if on the other hand he eats good and then hides i don't see a problem in the 200gal tank..as long as he has this personality and has hiding places.. but i quess nothing is totally safe with the big guys..my true opinion is black ghost knife belong in specialty tanks.. they just are on the fragile side.. and really do not fit in monster tanks or some community tanks.. that is why there are hardly any big older BGK around.. no one had any good size to post here..on MFK... i did not realize that when i started this thread.. sad.

yeah he has his own hiding place, shares it with the Clown Knifes acutally but he is always calm and comes out to eat. No problem there.
Ill probably put him in the 200g and make some good hiding spots and see what happens.

I hope you come back to post a big ghost ... he should really grow in a 200gal..and lots of luck with it... :D

Mines not the biggest or oldest by far. I've been growing out my latest BGK (had a few in the past) in a 25g since May, I think at least, it's grown from about 2" to 7" in that time. This exceeds the growth expected but that's not a bad thing. (Excuse poor pics, they are from my webcam).

That is excellent growth rate..what do you feed? he is really pretty.. !!!

It's fed prawns, bloodworm, brineshrimp, daphina, glassworm, tetra prima and what I think is helping the growth most JMC catfish pellets (47% protein). Also I believe the water changes help it's growth 50% twice a week.
