who has the biggest and oldest BGK

i was thinking of buying one, but was wondering how big do they get, and would they get along with my 4 Sens?

have toyed with the idea of sens with mine but haven't done it as he doesn't like new additions

From what I've read over a few years they can get anywhere up to roughly 2ft(24") but in captivity I doubt that big, some say about 18". There's no real way of knowing as we all feed differently and have different sized tanks and amounts of livestock in them.
In theory, maybe about 16-18" if tank large enough

i don't have any pics of my BGK.. at least not recent ones.. and the old ones, if they exist are on the hard drive on my old computer..

Babe is about 9 inches long now.. she's grown quite a bit from when i got her last summer.

They can get about 15- 16 inches... what do you mean {sens..} polys??? just want to make sure....

BGK can get 20-22" in captivity, I've seen it before..

Tank size is not an issue either, mine was in a 55g for 10+ years.. They aren't a 'space sensitive' fish like Pangasius or Pacu, so they aren't going to stress from lack of space - infact they probably feel more comfortable.. (notice they enjoy confined spaces, so that proves even more space is not an issue.)

The growth variable is MUCH more determined on diet and water quality.. the size of the glass box means nothing (effects water quality, though) .. tests have been done to show fish don't grow to the size of the home and unless they are a 'space sensitive' (ie; constantly swimming and have good visual skills) then it shouldn't matter. UNLESS, they use their electrosensory and the lack of space causes acute stress - but because of their natural behavior, I highly doubt they care as long as they have an appropriate sized hideaway..

i thought thats what you meant.. and i am not sure about polys with BGK.. Beblondie {she is Mod} is expert on tank mates and everything else about sens,polys and bichirs etc... send her a pm and you will get honest answer.. mine grew from 4 inches to about 15 inches in almost 2 years..
