Perhaps you should have asked for in a private collection... home aquariums typically don't get big enough for RTC's ;) ( :j/k: )

Actually aside from a few shots of some real jumbo's in public aquariums theres really not many Jumbo RTC's out there............... Aquarium or pond on this site.

If I recall I actually asked to see "all" the mythical big RTC's that everyone talks about, Pond or tank.

I'm still waiting to see them all, and as you can see this thread hasn't produced many big prospects either.........Has it.

I'm beginning to think either people don't hold on to them for long, or they really don't grow that big the way we grow them

My Guys in rubber made 300. Its actually pretty decent to house them in. He just swims in a gradual circle......never found the end yet :D

Bob, can you grab a tape measure and give me quick dimensions of the rubbermaid 300?
Is your RTC running out of room in there, or still some space for it?

My filas are doing great..........they won't accept frozen so its making me mad :D

It measures 70" one way and about 65" the other and about 25" deep . Not quite 6' round. At 30" he has plenty of room to swim around. he actually looks kinda small in there :screwy: When I had him in my 265 he looked gigantic !!!! In the tub he looks much smaller.

Don't worry they'll figure out the food thing soon enough. I've had plenty of tough to break cats. They all break eventually :D

good luck.........

I havn't seen some of the big dawgs put up theirs yet... but we know that they are out there ;) but I agree with you that people don't really hold on to them for all that long ... I think most people get scared off when they see the first year of growth, then try to dump them. I'm positive that Buster will in fact break 48" ;) Might take him 10-15 years to do it ... but he'll have the tools he needs LOL (Food, space and quality water) To much of a part of the family to give up on :D

im hoping johnptc could drop by and say a few words and share some pics of his RTC from that monster tank of his!! =] or atleast some of the others that we know have monster tank that houses the largest cats in their tanks

I agree, most do scare easily and dont understand that you cant keep these big cats with much of anything. I guess its like an aquired taste :D

I recently heard that a great mentor of mine "Johnny D" is no longer keeping RTC's. He had what I believe to be the biggest I've ever seen. Probably real close to 4' and nearly 2' wide. He had some problems and lost some fish and decided to just hang it up. I guess these things happen

Good luck with your quest for a four footer, I'm sure its very possible and I'm sure you have the means and desire to do so.

Come on guys post up some pics of your big boys !!!!!!! If RTC's grow as big and fast as most everyone thinks they do ........... three and four footers should be common.

Anyone can go out and buy a cute little RTC..........Even raise it to a foot or more.......But it takes a special kind to maintain and truly care for a 3'+ Giant. At that size both Fishkeeper and Fish are a rarity. :hitting:
