what ever you have.. just so we can confirm you have the oldest.. I believe you.. but it would be nice to see some growing up pics if you have them .. thanks Liz:D

I'll see if i can find and scan( before the days of digital cameras) some of my older pics, including the one from my son's second birthday party with my tank in the background. He was purchased from Foster's Exotic Pets in Tarpon Springs, FL (727-938-9051)in late '95/early '96. I bought him from Gary Jr., the owners son and he bought six or eight of them from his chinese kung-fu instructor, Master Chong ( I know that part sounds made up but I swear it's the truth). They had a large aro there as a store mascot for many years, from a three incher in '91 to about 3' when he jumped from the owners tank about 2 or 3 years ago. He went from a 125 in the store to a 235 Perfecto at Gary Sr.'s home. I also had a nice blue/black when i lived in NY 20 years ago, and I should have some pics of him as well. Give me a few days for the pics...any other details I can provide just let me know.

That would be great, that is enough ;)

Liz,
here's what I could find without digging through boxes in the garage. The first one is at my sons 2nd birthday party in Nov. '96. The second is right around the same time, and no my manx isn't in the tank...just standing on the little ledge on the back of the stand. Thought it made a cool pic. The fourth pic is from a few years later befrore he went in the big tank, a screen capture from my video camera I bought in 2001 when my daughter was born so I think it's right around that time. I might also have some old VHS video of the tank...Is there a way to post video if I can find and transfer it to my computer? Also found a pic of my blue I had in NY and of my pirahana. I'll post the pirahana in my gallery.

Aros can live for up to 30 years. The current record for oldest arowana, which is a 26" blue based asian arowana, is 38 years old. Most arowanas dont live longer than 3 years due to improper care, many arowanas imported today are still fry with a yolk sac, it is very hard to keep one with a yolk sac alive until it absorbs it.

My dads silver aro (which is mine now) is 14 years old, it is older than me! I also have a 5 year old silver, and a 3 year old black.

if this is true just post and document the best you can.. :D
