23" MALE MARBLE? wow!!

Yup! My thoughts exactly.

Gonna need to see pics to believe it. Not doubting, just need confirmation on something like this.

I have one that is 7 years old and only 16 across.... He is one of the biggest I'm aware of.

Longevity is a good topic for Rays and any other fish for that matter. If you consider generally the bigger the fish the longer it lives, for instance small tetras Barbs,Rasboras etc, active fish with fast metabolic rates usually live between 2 and 4 years where as Angel fish,Severums ang Geos regularly make 10 years plus. This brings me to Rays, most make reasonable sizes,i would have thought 25 years plus an easy age to attain for such fish,Redtail cats,Osphronemus gouramis and many other tank busters live this amount of time if properly cared for.........the Monks have Carp swimming around that are 100 years plus old......something to think about!

LOL just saying i had two rosy barbs for around 8 years.

You mean my half pair? LOL. I only have the male right now. At the time of going to get the male the female was too beat up to make the trip so she hasn't arrived yet. I was told roughly 7 years old. I remember looking at them out at Brad's when I picked up "Darkness". This was right after I moved to clear Lake which woulda been late 07. The male was about 13 inches back then (rough guess).... I have NO clue where he got them or how old they were when he got them though.

Given the growth rates I've experienced with Marbles I think 7 is a pretty fair guess. Brad fed stupid amounts of food too.... Something else to consider. Would be nice to know for sure though!!!! Maybe the guy will chime back in someday and enlighten us.

How old IS Darkness btw? You may have told me, but I can't remember...
