Who hates Win7?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i feel the need to ruin a scientific experiment.

When i get back home i'll create 2 virtual machines, one running xp one running windows 7 and we'll see which is faster for off-boot, off-internet, maybe the load times of a few other things, and calculating pie.

(yes xp is better then vista, but that doesn't mean xp is better then 7)

I run XP at work, Vista on my 5yr old PC and 7 on my brand new laptop.

Vista is the most intuitive to use but bogs down
I'm not loving 7 at all; still learning it's quirks. Outlook is gone so having to visit "The cloud" to get emails is annoying.
XP runs like a clock.
I do not judge a program based on it's start up time but Vista and 7 are not fast by any definition.
Know what I find i'm using most for my purposes?
DROID.
'Nuff said.:D

What the hell is "the cloud"?
I run W7 Home Premium and have never come across this cloud thing, I use Outlook.
I do find 7 much better than vista to use but I can't compare xp to 7 as the machines are far different, my w7 pc makes the xp one look like a calculator. The vista machine was also quite a bit worse off with regards to tech but I can say with certainty that the lagging is almost non-existant with 7. Boot times can't be measure because the pc's are too different.

The Cloud refers to cloud computers, which is...in almost every case, used incorrectly.

Email programs always had to go to the "cloud" (incorrect use) to get your emails its just labeled differently before.

Before it would have simply just been called your SMTP/IMAP/POP server.

Whenever I'm on an xp machine I feel like I should be on the look out for a pack of raptors hiding in the bushes

What no one uses DOS 5.1? My biggest problem with windows is they don't finish the debug cycle so new windows software takes a few hits. If you are running the bare minimum for the OS it won't work all that well.

why stick with a horse and buggy when you can get MH-60L Direct Action Penetrator equipped with a M230 Chain Gun, 30 mm automatic cannon, rocket pods, etc.

Im now referring to linux.

Yes and just like the MH-60L unless you know what you are doing you will end up with a pile of scrap. Linux isn't worth the hassle unless you like playing with your OS.

Or you have that magical IT unicorn: A Linux guru you don't want to garrote with a lan cable. I've heard they exist but have yet to work with one.

I don't need 4 gigs of ram to run xp.
