Who here has a Fish tank in their bedroom?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My fiance and I have 10 tanks in our bedroom ..over 200gs of water. fish tanks wall to wall!!..ill get a panarama pic up soon as i can find it.

none of our tanks smell bad! ...they are nice fresh clean smelling tanks like a clean growing lake..love the smell of my tanks and they are all silent!

OP, your gf is probably right. If your tank smells to her, it probably smells to the rest of your guests too. You just can't smell it bc you're used to it already.

If its like that then your tank is going to be a major cockblocker for you and is not worth keeping in your room. You gotta decide : what's more important fish or girls? I love my fish but I'd pick girls every time.

I have 3 fish tanks and a turtle tank in my bed room. All of my reptiles are also in the room. You may need to leave this "women" you call a "gf"... lol

An easy fix to get rid of "smell" and extra humidity is to cover any open spots of the tank. After trying many different methods to get rid of some gnats that just would not stop breeding in my 265, I decided to completely cover any open spots on top of the tank with plastic (saran) wrap. At first it did not look so great but with some creativity you could barley notice it. The great thing is it killed off all the gnats. In addition my wife stopped complaining about the "smell" from the tank while it was covered. The humidity levels in the room also dropped, but it did raise the temp in the tank by 2 - 3 degrees.

I have 150 gallon tank in my room with a good amount fish in it. it smells sometimes but I do a three quarter water change every week and its not too bad. My wife loves looking at the fish before she goes to bed and likes the sound of the water

I have my 220 in my bedroom. It never stunk until I took my HOB filter off that had carbon in it. That was 2 days ago. I walked into my room today and it smelled like a fish market

Something has to be said - there is a HUGE difference between keeping a 125 in a small room and a smaller tank.

More water flow, larger surface area, usually larger bioloads...lots go into that "odor" factor.

Just saying.

PPPSSHHHH!!!! 2 years ago when I had smaller fish (nothing over 12 inches) I had 16 tanks in my room... Upkeep was just to much for me and i went monster and got rid of 14 of these tanks... In exchange i got myself a 300 gallon and am building a 700 gallon ray and pbass tank.
