I free roam my igs in a weekly basis to get all of thouse sweet sun rays. Now I have some thoughs to ad to this tread. First I dont recomend free roaming a small, medium snake, let alone a ribbon snake outside of some kind of enclosure to contain it, how much do you guys want to bet that buddy Squeletor here will be back in few days saying "dang I was just free roaming my snake, he was so calm so I relaxed a bit and now its gone, how can I catch it again outside?"and that pretty much says it all, by doing that there is a very high chance that in the blink of a eye you may lose your snake. Also didnt you just a few days ago said that she was finely starting to eat again after she had a hunger strike? Now why stress her by the extra handling and constant change of cenario? If you want to put your snake outside you need to build her a outdoor enclosure. And second I dont recomend free roaming a leopard gecko, leo geckos are very sensitive to some patogens frequently founded on the floor, specialy criptosporids which can become in cronic debilitating desiase or even kill a gecko. Also many leo gecko morphs lack the protective layers of melanine wich makes them sensitive to even low levels of uv ligth.

He started eating about 3 months ago after an eating strike, the thread was about when I ID'ed him as a Ribbon, explaining why he didn't eat. And I hold his tail most of the time he's outside, and when I let go of his tail, my front garden has a brick rim around it. He's not much of a climber and he's surprisingly slow for a Ribbon. Although having seen your comments and knowing your knowledge of Reptiles I probably won't let go of his tail anymore when I'm out there. And I don't take my Gecko outside, he's too much of a renegade... he's even more likely to run than the Ribbon:nilly:

Thank you for the advice:)

last year in my area a person had 3 RES he and his kids shared a pool with them
they all got sick and now exotics are banned and all exotics must be registered
I know what i said is harsh but it's things like that that can take our hobby down

I have a courtyard that I let my iguana roam around in. it is about 20'x15' and is open top so he gets lots of sunshine. I am in the process of planting hibiscus plants for him to browse on too. he has it made...

It is so sad people do things like that, I mean it may not even be because of the turtles! I know a guy that has both a kid and a pair of map turtles and the dumb kid used to put them in the mouth, 100% all conditions met for Salmonella infection however NOTHING HAPPENED! This should be a reall serious warning to us that this aint a black on white question. However leaving this issues to politicians and here is the result. The hobby should be self regulated, serious hobbists making laws for hobbists. If people what to outlaw something far more dangerous why not outlaw cigarretes (sorry if Im ofending anybody here, Im not intending to, its just a example), junk food, sport cars, etc? And yea taking bath in a turt pond is a big no no, actualy its not a good idea to take pond baths for starters...if your conserned about bacteria.

Any time buddy squeletor:D I however dont think your snake would be that happy by you keeping her secure by her tail, far better would be if you got her a bigger indoor terraria for her to roam at will. Dont forget this guys are compatible with cool planted vivariums.

Now excuse me I have to go pick up aunt at the mall, BY THE POWER OF WHATEVERON!
