I would think if a true herper got salmonella from swimming with their turtle, they wouldn't make a huge deal of it coming from the turtle, etc.

Raw chicken and pork should be banned before herps should, as far as disease risk goes.

Last summer my Tegu’s cage stayed on the outdoor deck/balcony

And he free roamed on the deck frequently

After a while I made arrangements to let him free roam on the deck 24/7

I could easily take him downstairs and let him walk around the yard and I could easily walk over and pick him up without him trying to flee at all…

It’s not warm enough to put the cage back outside yet, but the other day it was very warm (80*F) so I decided to take him out for a walk. Once he tasted the outdoors he wasn’t happy about being picked up and put up quite a struggle.

Moral to that story… random outdoor free roaming may be more stressful to you and your reptile than it’s worth… but taking steps to adapt your reptile to regular outdoor free roaming can be very rewarding to both you and your animal…

I francly think that junk food should be first or at least be priced at a pretty penny. The total death toll it will cause aint gonna be pretty...
