yes ours get ground up and made into fertilizer, i give them to the amish so i really dont feel that it is a waste, if they use it to grow their crops to feed their families...

yea i dont know, one of my favorite spots to bowfish during the day is around this public beach, its in a spot where a lot of seagulls gather with ducks and stuff, i watch the seagulls fly around and when they take a dump and it hits the water the carp come up and eat it, then they get smacked haha, ive seen them eat some questionable stuff....
I agree with what Polypterus said i don't mind bowfish for carp at all Gars i would feal a little guilty about same with dogfish/bowfin i like those two fish but carp can't kill enough of them
I Love bowfishing for Carp theres TONS of them here they really can mess up a good fishing pond so i can't kill enough of them But i put them to very good use if there taken from clean water i will eat some of them or freeze them and use them as fish food its good free fish meat or when i get alot of them i drop them off at the Raptor rescue its a place that takes in Hawks and eagles and such that are injured or have had there mothers killed and they raise them or treat there wounds appearently they LOVE carp meat so i see it as a great cause get rid of some invasive fish and use them to feed some endangerd birds

If it weren't for carp...my dad wouldn't have a job. He is a professionaly guide, fly-fishing for carp. Catch and release always of course....not sure why they have such a bad reputation....it is such a waste when people just take them down and throw them on a pile to rot....whats the point? and what fun is bowfishing really? its not that hard. Now try taking a carp on a flyrod for a real challenge. Some of those carp you are killing are 20+ years old. Just like taking a smallmouth bass...its alright if you eat it, but people that limit out daily are taking fish that have just reached sexual maturity and killing them, so then there goes 5 fish that day that wont breed to reproduce more.

well before you totally hate on me maybe you should give it a chance, bowfishing is probably the funnest type of fishing you can do. i have people that BEG me to take them in my boat so they can just watch. and it is a lot harder than it looks. i dont even have a sight on my bow. its not like im shooting endangered species. for me to go out and shoot 20-60 fish in a few hours is nothing, some lakes are infested with them and it is nothing for a 20lb carp to swim into a bass, trout, salmon, whatever bed and either eat all the eggs or totally destroy the bed. give it a shot sometime seriously, im not here to debate anyone, i'm just seeing who all does it. oh and the mercury level in carp is really high so dont eat them if you plan on having children...fyi
