Iwe tossed the carp in a basket instead of the live well with the other species. Even then, some still survived until after we were finished and had weighed and measured all of the native species. I generally tried to make sure I missed the basket and put them up against the generator to give them a little extra shock.

If you want to kill them, then kill them. But avoid animal cruelty. That's despicable.

If it were up to me, I definitely would have. We were instructed to put the fish into the dry baskets or if we didn't have those, in the bed of the watercraft next to the generator. I will admit that what I posted earlier sounded a little barbaric, but that wasn't my intention. If I were in charge, I would have just cut/clubbed them immediately to avoid suffering

There are some folks up this way that bowfish for carp. I've never tried it though. As stated, carp are very destructive. Wonder how they would work as lobster bait?

Try them and let us know.

and what fun is bowfishing really? its not that hard.

It's fun, really. If it starts to seem easy to you shoot smaller carp.

Just like taking a smallmouth bass...its alright if you eat it, but people that limit out daily are taking fish that have just reached sexual maturity and killing them, so then there goes 5 fish that day that wont breed to reproduce more.

The point is to remove carp, a destructive fish. Carp reproduction is a bad thing. I understand your opposition to bowfishing, but he could shoot that many everyday and not put a dent in them.

Looks like a lot of fun. I've never tried it but I've thought about it when I see schools of carp spawning.

If I saw a group of Common Carp (not Silvers, I avoid those) I would instead of a bow and arrow pull out an 8 lb spinning outfish. 100 times the sport. And catch and release. In NY Carp are NOT purposly inilated. They are considered a game fish!
