Who needs permission for tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
who actually has to argue and convince the partner?

I had to do a little coaxing with my wife to get my 300 gallon show tank. :D

my brother had a 55 sitting in our living room, all wrapped up, not even out of the package, and my mom goes, "that thing is huge!". he wasn't allowed to keep it. we are both allowed to get bigger tanks sometime in april.:headbang2

i'm getting a 75. its not huge, but god does my mom think so.

If i had ever asked my wife for the ok to buy fish tank i would most likely not have any Tanks ...i prefer the buy now tell later method i know in the long run she'll fall in love with what ever i put in them

i compromised with my girlfriend. she gets to decorate the house however she wants as long as she doesn't say a word about my fish/pets and my cars.

Getting a bigger tank i usualy try to make it seem like im asking permission from my roommate. Although she dosn't care as long as she dosn't have to take care of them. I also find that if you get it home and water in it they really cant do much about it.

yeah if it wasn't so cheap living with my parents I would move out, but Im saving for a house so why pay rent if you don't have to. My parents are fairly easy going though I currently have a 55 and 220 in the family room, then they said I could get another 220 if I wanted, then I pushed it upto a 300 and now Im happy as im allowed a 450 (8'x3'x2.5'h). Im not going to try and get it any bigger, although 4 wide would be nicer:grinno: .

My mate tryed that and his mrs, she was so pissed because he didn't ask her opinion she smashed the tank whilst we were out buying filters and a heater for it. It was only a secondhand 55 (cost $40 AUD) that he was planning to use as a growout tank for some Sliver Dollars and a GT. We got back to his house and she said "clean up the mess and ask me if Im ok with it and you can get another one":screwy: . So he did and got a brand new 75, they must have too much money or something cause I dont have money to smash a tank just to prove a point.

After being married for 18 years she has got to the point that she lets me do as I want.

She says as long as I'm working on the fish I'm not at a bar or chasing other women.

And this woman has a good job and doesn't ask how much I spend.

I guess ill get to that point with my wife since im not married as long as you are.

I voice out my plans to my wife and we go from there. She never says no but she voices out her concerns and reassure her that we wouldnt be overwhelmed with tanks and then we compromise.

woho!, my wife just said its more our house restricting my tank sizes than her, which is true. that means bigger house, bigger tanks! haha, im going to buy a house just to support my habit.:screwy:

I told my wife I wanted a tank, after a number of years out of the hobby.

She brought me home a 46 bow-front with stand, cover, light. The next day we went to the store for the rest.

A couple months later, she says to me "The school doesn't want the 55g that is there anymore, do you want it?"

Then, "Patty & Kevin have to move & don't want to move the 55 they have, do you want it?"

Then "Missy & Bill have an empty 55 in their basement, do you want it?"

I guess you get the idea.
