Howdy all,

I have discussed the 2262 BEFORE, and even run a POLL . However, I have yet to identify a member who actually owns and operates the 2262.
- Any reviews?
- Does anyone know which motor is powering that filter, and how long it has been on the market? Is it from the 1262 water pump?

Does anyone own a 1262 water pump? Reviews?

On paper, the 2262 is the perfect filter when you don't look at the price ($430). Is it worth the extra $130 on top of the 2260?

Please don't turn this into a brand flame war, but state your own experiences with the abovementioned filters. I am curious.

Thanks,
HarleyK

I own the 1260 so I hope I'm not out of line by adding my 2 cents since it's slightly smaller then the 1262.

It's great pump, fairly quiet as long as it's 3"+ below the water surface as it hums otherwise. I had to pad the returns due to vibration though.

I think they're a little over priced, but it's an Eheim, so nothing new there. (Brand name, imported, and usually higher quality than other brands)
I'd probably not buy a one new, but I got a slightly used one for a great deal from a friend, and am happy with it.

I believe that is the pump that powers the 2260. (can anyone confirm this guess?) Thanks for your input

C'm on guys, weekend is over - wake up :D

Anyone here with a 1262 water pump or a 2262 canister???

i have the 1262 pump runs good no complaints lil pricey for the amount of flow i prefer mag pumps now but the eheim pump is good quality as far as eheim canisters if i had the money to spare i would buy the 2262. but im more of a sump/wet/dry kinda guy i do love all the eheim filters i have/had..........

Nic,

Thanks for your feedback. How long have you had the pump for?

HarleyK

arround a year i think might be longer i havent used it in awhile i went with a mag pump for more flow

bump.

16,162 MFK members world-wide, and not a single one runs a 2262?!

I'll either go down in history as a pioneer starting movement unparalleled even by the FX5 introduction :headbang2,
... or as a :screwy: MFKer

I'm still undecided ...

go for it ive been considering it but im out for more crazy fish right now they are taking all my $$$ afterwords ill probally buy one its eheim it cant be bad best cannisters out there imo

Harley, found this on cichlid-forums.com -

I was looking into purchasing a EHEIM 2260 canister filter for a 180 gallon aquarium that I currently have stocked with about 60-65 Tropheus.

During my investigation, I found that Marine Depot offers a modified Eheim 2260 that they are calling the Eheim 2262.

The only difference is the Eheim 2262 comes with the double block valves and the Eheim pump 1262. The Eheim 2260 comes standard without the valves, and comes with a Eheim 1260 pump.

The difference in the two pumps is the 1260 has higher head 12'-1" and less flow 635 gph. The 1262 has 11'-6" of head and a flow rate of 900 gph. The 1262 also consumes 15 more Watts.

The higher head is going to maintain flow better as the filter becomes dirty because of the higher differential. The 1262 pump will flow 300gph more but loose flow capacity a bit quicker as the filter becomes dirty.

My current filtration is one Emperor 400, and (2) Eheim 2217's. My thinking is removing the Emperor 400 and one of the 2217's and use the Eheim 2262 from Marine Depot.

My questions are has anyone purchased this setup from Marine Depot and had any issues? There are no reviews on Marine Depot's website on this product. I have some concerns about the higher flow rate, and its effect on the canister sealing, and possibly the manner of which the bacteria colonies generate.

My media plans in this filter would be 5L of Mechanical, 7L of the Pro Substrate, 5L of the Effix, and then a fine mesh at the top, possibly purigen or chemipure.
