Who owns the oldest fish on MFK?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2 3 year old albino corys.

I had a rosy barb who lived for 9 and a half years. He died a few years ago. Other than that I have one spotted and one striped raphael catfish and they are about 3. And the tetras (black neon and buenos aires) in there are almost 4.

the LFS owner near me recently lost his 33yr and 30yr old clown loaches. mine was a 4yr old knight goby that decided to jump ship, he was the fish that really got me started into fish, after keeping a tank since i was 6 i decided to get him and do some research for once and moved from a herp addict to a fish addict, i have no regrets.

Sucks to lose those.. how big were those old loaches?

i have several really old fish... my oldest are a pair of polypterus ornatipinnis that i bought in 1989 and are still going strong! i also have a female dovii that i have had since 1995... she is a bit battle scarred from the attentions of male dovii but still feeds really well and occasionally lays eggs... a former colleague at work gave me a pterodoras granulosus back in 1995 aswell and i still have that although i think it was stunted before i got him as he has only grown to about a foot long...

I had a tetra die a couple months back that was 8 years old. It was my first fish (beside the irridescent shark that my dad wanted to put in my 5 gallon that died in 3 days).

I still have a green cory cat from that same time. He is still going strong in a 20 long.

I bought this French Angel on Dec. 28 1993. He was the size of a Quarter and I paid $49.99. He has lived his entire life in a 150 except when he spent a year in my 300 gallon reef tank "bad idea" when I was re-doing our Family room. He is now about 10-12" round and eats like a horse. He is a family pet and interacts with everyone more so than my RTC's. His tank is right off our kitchen so he eats dinner and watches TV with us every night :D

I guess that make him 14 years old .

Thats a long time to devote an entire tank to one fish :screwy:
