who said aro could not have tank mates????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
why??? do you think i am that dumb???? did i ever say that i was able to keep my tank longer than his is the same tank???? i have 4 tanks in my house and i am not that poor as some people is saying in their post... i am just a plain practical engineer who want to test other principle being used in bigger scale into smaller application. i am not sure if ever you had experienced in breeding different kind of fish for ornamental or for food.

but i will not go over it... you are an expert at your own right... so be it. in a civilized society, if ever you are in doubt, all you had to do is ask..." how could it be possible??? can you share us the processes?'

Nobody said you're dumb, and it's a shame if you feel that way, especially toward others. Keeping fish is not rocket science, so being an engineer doesn't make you a better fish keeper. As someone point out, water change is not only about waste produced, but also about pheromones released by fish, and mineral replenish, so if you said you can raise a fish in certain size thru certain month without doing water change for certain week, so be it. However, with what you've showed so far, it could be baloney to some of us, and there's not much you can do about it. The fact is you believe in someone to tell you that arowana can not have tankmate, or your "Ebony" and "Ivory" is not catfish to show how much knowledge you have in fish and fish keeping. Enjoy!

no problem, i am just shock how harsh are people around here. it seems everyone is trying to say " hey, i am the best and what you are saying is not in accordance with my book!"

but i like what one member had said: "there are times it is better to keep what you know by yourself" if someone is having difficulty coping with high ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH... so be it. that is his problem... if i have easy way of keeping my water parameters in good condition, so be it, i will keep doing it.

no one deserved being ridiculed and insulted as if you are the expert of this thing. i thought this is a friendly community but i was wrong!

You should continue to share. Plants feed on ammonia and nitrates. It's a fact. I have no clue why you are getting so much grief over this.

I love quotes. Here a few that are precient:

‘By denying scientific principles, one may maintain any paradox.’
-Galileo

‘New opinions are always suspected, and usually opposed, without any other reason but because they are not already common.’
John Locke

‘New and stirring ideas are belittled, because if they are not belittled the humiliating question arises, "Why, then, are you not taking part in them?".’
HG Wells

Every great advance in natural knowledge has involved the absolute rejection of authority (aka jlnguyen74)
-Thomas Huxley

Do ping pong balls actually work? I'm scared my Jardini will eat it.

Yeah it works for about 8 seconds, once the arowana figures out it is nothing to eat it will pay no attention to it. Just another myth that when a little common sense is applied, it is easily debunked. Better idea is to put the "funnies" out of the Sunday paper atop the tank everyweek, least the aro gets entertained and has a new reason to look up every week. ;)

This only means you have no clue of photosynthesis!

Is that why arowana has such a big mouth? :D

I wouldn't even bother to convince a person who only keeps goldfish so far to realize how much waste arowana or catfish can produce. I can only lead a horse to the water, but I can't make it drink.

Very well. Dismiss me because I keep goldfish.

Let's get back to the filtration of the OPs tank that allows him to keep nitrates down. How many plants do you think it would have taken to keep nitrates down in a tank with one goldfish? Below is a picture of my old setup with that goldfish I was talking about.

Your ignorance grows with every post. :clap

If your writing skills are any indication of your reading skills, posting this may be futile. Half of what you have written I have shrugged off because your grammar is so broken...you make no sense. But learn to read and then click on this link and prepare to be enlightened: The department of Agronomy at the University of Missouri: http://extension.missouri.edu/p/G9804

Photosynthesis plays a large part in the process of plant growth, but it's not the be all, end all. Taken from the site, "Adequate supply of nitrate is necessary for good plant growth...more than 90 percent of the nitrogen absorbed by plants is in the nitrate form."

Let me dumb it down for you. Plants like Nitrates.
