I read threads on here n other sites that Gold Wolfs were aggressive towards it's own. That's the exact reason why I passed on adding a second one n adding Armatus n Goliath instead (Shhh, combo scared the turf out of me though Lol).
To get the record straight I am talking about Hoplerythrinus unitaeniatus. I know a recent example of someone who keeps these together is Mynheers_A_pint. But like I said before there are very mixed reviews on these fish and I figured I'd try it. So far they are doing well, the most aggression I have seen is some chasing. However, I recall Mynheers saying that if they are kept in a smaller tank, they wont be as active and are on the substrate most of the time. This is what I am noticing with mine, they are in a heavily planted 75g. Caribemob, I'd really like to hear about the conditions yours were kept in and how they were acting.
Virtually, any combo is possible! The only problem is the attitude (and the size of tank LOL). As many people know, a "NORMAL" wolf fish's attitude is mean and predetory and mean but if you train it, it's a whole different story. I've had a red wolf of 7 inches that wouldn't harm a fly. i put him in a tank of baby senegal bichirs and the senegal began to attack him. He didn't even fight back. If you want your wolf to somewhat have some tankmates (depends on what specis of wolf), feed it strictly NONLIVE FOOD. in the wild, the wolves eat fish and small animals. this triggers their vicious wild instincts. I strictly fed my wolf shrimp and pellets and he grew not "knowing" what "wild aggression" was. If you want ur wolf to collaborate, DON"T FEED UR WOLF FEEDER FISH OR ANIMAL!!!!!!! i've seem a normally vicious common wolf that was housed in a predetory fish tank. He would een allow his owner pet him! LOL
It's a great book but expensive, don't get me wrong it is worth it. Those DVD's look good. I may well get the 'Wolf Fish' and the 'Freshwater Natural Aquarium' DVD's.
