Well, my guess is that ornate are beautiful and spicey as women tend to be with those 2 traits seldom being separable. Ornate bichirs are the beauty queen of the bichirs, no denying it. I will say it was the ornate that was aggressive to the male lap, but it was the male lap who ended up gobbling some of my Rosie barbs. He is a strange for a bichir, at least in my experience. He has no trouble being out in the open, the ornate seems more skittish. My aquarium has pvc 2" piping embedded into the background and that is where she spends most her days. The lap has apparently picked up some of her bad behavior because lately I see him occupying the same tube she is in. Whatever their differences were, they are well past them.
