man i totally agree that lmb are over rated. u can catch large ones here in pa hand over fist. i cant stand putting it on espn and seeing those bass tournaments . i can catch bass just as big or bigger and just as fast right here in pa why dont they do walleye tournaments or musky tourneys something that takes some skill for cripes sakes they may as well be doing bluegill tournaments. steelhead walleye salmon trout bowfin lake trout pike musky all of these fish are much funner then bass imo.

Well then I would have to say you are foolish for not becoming a professional BASS angler. Honestly :WTF: It's not all about just the biggest fish or BASS would never leave mexico and Texas. I'm sure on the pond you fish all the time you probably can cath more fish than a pro. But go to a different lake every week and beat them. There is no way you come even close to them.

FISHING IS FUN PERIOD. NO MATTER WHAT YOU ARE FISHING FOR imo.

I have a great time just sitting by the bank watching the baby bluegills trying to eat my senko. It's all about being outdoors and enjoying nature and company. Go fish for great whites if it's ALL about catching fish that fight well. I'll make some seal lures and we'll go together lol. I personally love fishing for smallies on the river. Wading and just enjoying being in the river fishing. Sure catching big fish is always fun but I still have fun if all I catch is Rock Bass :D And actually I had a great time catching Rock Bass last year in Minnesota. They gro HUGE up there compared to here. First one I caught I thought it was a smally on my line until I saw it:ROFL:

Wanna talk about a fish that doesn't fight, WALLEYE for example. They are the weakest fighting fish per pound I have ever caught. But I still love fishing for them.

I guess I just have a different mindset than some people. Seems to be about half feel the way I do and the other half don't.

Oh well tight lines all and happy fishing :)

Exactly what I am trying to say. Not only that bass are easy to catch but its funny how the pros use high pound test line for oversized panfish. If i tried to do that with a real sport fish like steelhead i could fish for weeks without a single hook-up.

ur telling me i fish out of a pond for them. ever here of lake pleasent or bulls dam or lake erie. like i said u can catch them hand over fist. the name of the thread was to u think there overated and imo i do cause i can catch them all the time it doesnt say which fight harder a bass or walleye but walleye or simply a harder fish to hook into then bass. this is in my area i dont know whats going on were u live but dont flame me for giving an honest reply of the fishing around here and why i think there overated.

What ever happened to personal preference? Are people not allowed to have oppinons?

When did this happen?

I'm not flaming you but honestly if you are better at catching LMB's than the pros it would be stupid not to do it. There is a lot of money to be made. And if you get other outdoor channels they do show walleye tournaments but IMO they are boring to watch. Where does it rate LMB's I never here people say they are pound for pound great fighters. That title is reserved for Smallys. IMO Largemouth are popular because you can catch them everywhere in North America. Name another fish that can fight as good as a Largemouth and be caught in as many areas. That is why they are popular. But I have never seen anybody say they fight better than steelhead and muskie and smallys...........

Agreed any one can get LMB but can you get a limit as good as the pros everytime you go out.

I once was fishing for Bass off my dock during a bass tournament on our lake and I caught 6 fish weighing 8 lbs total, That's pretty good for dock fishing. There was a contestant fishing about 100 yards from shore at the same time, and I did't see them catch anything.
