Who here uses carbon to filter their tanks? I recently stopped using carbon and used the extra space in my filters to house more bio and mechanical filtration. Just wondering who uses carbon and who doesnt, and if anyone has a strong argument for using carbon (besides temporary use for removing medication or tanins or things of that nature) instead of using the space for more bio or mechanical filtration.

I am currently using it only because it came with my new AC110's :D

I don't use carbon. It is a waste of media IMO you are much better of using the space for bio or mechanical filtration like you stated. Plus if you accidently wait to long to change the carbon, the carbon will leak tanins back into your tank, so you are better off not using it

i do on 2 of my tanks.. i have no real oppinion on it either way

What about polyfilter - what do you guys think? I use it on both of my tanks. If you do use it, how often do you replace it? I usually just rise it weekly and use it for a couple of months.
