Who wants to see a BIG silver Dat?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Still a very nice silver though!

dat is one nice dat..... :grinno:

it always kills me how much this fish would fetch in lfs here and someone somewhere can just drop hook line and sinker and snag one of those babes off public peer........person probably just took it home and fried it up.........or better yet dumped it into fish tank........we can only do that for freshwater fish here, pike, pickerel, musky, lm/sm bass, perch, sunfish, bullgill, crappy....etc

Yeah, I've seen that picture before. Big silver dat.

Incidentally, Fishbase lists the maximum size of Datnioides quadrifasciatus at 30 cm or roughly 12 inches SL. Assuming that the tail adds another 2 inches, that would be approximately 14 inches TL. The largest silver dat I've ever had was around 9 inches TL before it died during a pH crash. :(

How long did it take to get it to grow till that size dude?
My Silver Dat seems to grow only an inche a year.. and its eating like a pig and fat as hell!

its a pretty fishy, regardless of how big it is. Hurts to see it on a line; I'd prolly empty out my 200g just to keep that baby.

It actually grew fairly quickly. . . for a dat. It was four inches when I got it and was nine inches a year and a half later.
