Who will be getting Battlefield 3?

strang, i read mine when i installed it and it said nothing of the sort. when i installed the use agreement talked about user rights, what happen when caught cheating and the sort, nothing was ever mention anthing your talking about.

when i installed it on my pc the only thing mention was info gather on the game itself... it says nothing about going through your pc and logging you personal info. Ehey are not just takeing any random info its all info thats need for the game to run smoothly.

the post u show is just some random guy posting, there no proff to back the statement up other then himself. When you look to see what else he wrote youll discovered nothing which makes me think he just yaking out the mouth.

a guy said it best when posting on a comment from the post u mention

Are you serious? Every webpage you have ever visited logs your personal IP, as well as every program which needs online access. The "pirate programs" you so articulately mention are actually called proxies, are in no way illegal and can infact STILL be traced back to your personal IP in most cases. Please, if you dont know what you are talking about, dont post. :)

I mis-read the the reviews, it is not the games EULA but Origins EULA. However, one cannot be used without the other.

I'm only passing on info that is likely to be important to UK members wanting the pc version. I doubt the user agreement is the same here as it is across the pond, by not allowing an opt out of data collection/marketing/passing info to 3rd parties they are likely to be in breach of UK and European Law.
Websites can be avoided by choice. Tracking cookies can be deleted, privacy increased, EUROPE ONLY: new laws mean permission must be sought to use tracking cookies on you, you can use proxies, rotating IP programs, etc. It is about choice and not being forced to comply with EA's marketing strategy, selling your info and data collection on top of shelling out a lot of money for a game.
Here you can't return a pc game if the seal is broken so you are stuffed before you even put the disc in the drive.

That quote about the user agreement is but one post out of a selection of 250+ with most slamming EA's info gathering. It is not just info needed to run the game but they are far from clear what they are logging/selling. I would understand you being sceptical if it was one or two people shouting their mouths off about it but its 250+ that agree this amounts to spyware on Amazon alone because of the scope of the info collected and lack of an opt out.
It is even on EA's own forums about origin, thousands of posts with the odd defenders bringing up steam and PB. They do not collect information above and beyond the scope of the game nor do they sell to 3rd parties for marketing purposes. Steam even has an opt out for data collection.
People may just be panicking because of poor wording and non-specific wording on EA's part but for now it is a skipped title for me.
