Who would you keep?/Who would you remove?

Easy choice for me. Another vote for argenta because he looks stunning, is the boss, and is rarer than all your other fish so would be harder to replace.

Yeah I wouldn't get rid of the argentea but it has to be separated from the rest one way or another. They have the personality of King joffrey.

+1 in my area they are down right rare. Cant get one unless you order online. I regret rehoming mine

I'd keep the argentea and mix some smaller fish it like some robust cryptoheros. Add a lot of rocks and caves to create little nooks that the cryptoheros can retreat into. Sajica would be a nice one. So is cuterri. They are more robust than myrnae or nanoluteus while being less prolific than amatitliana. Add in some large Columbian tetras, or bleeding hearts, Buenos aires, or black skirts to school mid water.

That would look sick imho.

I kept some tiger barbs with mine. He eventually started killing them, tried some zebra danios, killed them too lol

LULZ!!!

That was funny. Just wanted to add that convicts and firemouths seem to go well with any cichlid tank except dwarves. You can have all th fun in the world sorting through what types of armored catfish you want to keep. I had 7 or 8 in my cichlid tanks at one point, maybe more

In a 75 I would keep the paratilapia. I think you have a better chance of keeping a couple other fish with it in the long run. I also think they look great and have a good personality. If the tank were bigger I would vote for the argentea but I wouldn't keep one in anything smaller than a 125 and even then, it could be hard to keep anything with it.

Thoughts on quantities? Will there be any issues if these fish, especially the convicts, pair up and attempt to breed?

Probably depends on a few things like "are u getting a bigger tank someday, just not right this minute?" or "how much can the other fish/you tolerate as far as breeding aggression goes?"

I mean, a pair of convicts can be tough and ruthless, but I doubt even a pair could stand-up to your monsters. If you don't want them to breed, just get all females or 2 males or whatever. If you like red, get the females, if you like blue tints and trailer fins, go for males. It's a personal choice :) Even when I bred Jaguars, it was in a cichlid community, ALSO w/ breeding harems of JDs, 2 pairs of Jewels, etc.

Space + caves + weekly 50% water changes + high quality food = healthy breeding environment
