It seems to me that everybody nowadays has Clown knives and Black Ghost knives, but not many African brown knives...
Anybody have some good pics of their ABKs?
heres all the knives i have evere had.
1 african brown knife. which is still alive
a CK which past away a few weeks ago.
and a bgk which past away just last week.
How come some ABKs are darker than others? Genetics? Age? I would really like to get a dark one, but if they start off light and then turn darker with age, I have no worries... Anyone got an answer?
Its about the substrate. If the substrate is dark, the knife turns dark. If the substrate is light, the knife turns light. Look at the substrates of the pics above and compare them to the color of the knives shown.
Heres a pic of mine when I first got him a few months ago. Its hard to get pics of him, hes always hiding during the day and is only out and about at night.
One more question that I don't know if it is fact or fiction. Will having more than one Knife in a tank mess up they're electrical organ sensing? I've heard a few times that they will not be happy if there is another "electric" fish in there.
I am not really sure how he wouldn't be happy, but my African shares the tank with another electrical fish, an elephant nose. They both seem to be doing very well, eating and acting normally, with no health problems, knock on wood. Kind of funny, but got them on the same day...
