Who's got the oldest???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
16 years?! Must have been hard losing that one.

Yeah... I had him from a school kid till I was in my late 20s.... I lost interest for ages after that and have only now in the last 3 years regained my interest. I also had some big old Festae aswell. If only I could find a way of converting my old VHS recordings of my fish onto digital I'd have some amazing stuff to show you guys with the breeding festae labiatum neets etc

Oh man I would love to see those videos. So we have an 18 yr old silver dollar & a 16 yr old red devil. Can anybody top these two? More pictures! The oldest I've had was a goldfish I won at a local fair. Survived 5 yrs with both eyes bit out. I had to hand feed him.

Actually I had a 20 year old Goldfish that lived in the pond... I'll see about getting some pics scanned of my old Devil and post them here.

The longest living fish in my tank is not cichlid, but three clown loaches. I have them for over 8 years, still growing and showing no sign of aging. I read that they don't even reach sexual maturity until they are 10+ years old and a foot long. Mine are between 6 to 7 inches, so still a long way to go.

Most cichlids have life expectancy under 7 years. For long live fish, try Koi and Arrowana which can live for 100 years.

actually most of the larger growing cichlids have expectancies of 10 years or more.with the right conditions, the tank raised cichlid has access to better nutritional needs, also no stress from possible predation

My 9 year old single danio.... MY FIRST FISH I EVER OWNED!!!! (The others died over time...) these guys are hardy as heck!!!!

Take your old footage and display it with the vcr on tv, then take your camera and record the footage. The quality might not be great but at least we can see what you are talking about.

I had a Blood Parrot that I got when they first came out, in 1986. He lived alone in a 29 for his whole life. He died in 2001 at age 15. He was 10 inches long and as fat as a baseball. I'll try to find a pic.
