Who's the #2 most aggressive SA/CA Cichlade

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would have to say..aggression for size..the Five Star General cichlid..had these four years ago in a 55gallon and it was one of the meanest cichlid I'd ever owned

i say in this is THE one and only TRUE order for aggressive fish. any other list or thread is just subjective. but this list below is truly based off an extensive and careful study that took many years to complete and is by no means based off of anything other than scientific methods:

- angelfish
- discus
- apistos

seriously, is there really a point in asking what the number 2 is? i mean come on... :screwy::screwy:

number 2 i'd have to say a citrinellus or labiatus just from experience.
dovii at a gigantic size, but my midas once it hit like 7 or 8 inches, i couldn't keep him with any other fish anymore.

umbee is probably the meanest i have ever seen.
i had a couple at 1" and grew to around 4" and there wasn't a day i had them where they weren't trying to kill all the other fish bigger than them!

These threads kill me…

First and foremost… define “aggressive”…

1. characterized by or tending toward unprovoked offensives, attacks, invasions, or the like; militantly forward or menacing; 2. making an all-out effort to win or succeed; competitive; 3. vigorously energetic, esp. in the use of initiative and forcefulness; 4. boldly assertive and forward; pushy

Using that, aggressive does not mean tough… it has to do with evaluating attitude…

So adult size should not be considered… nor should how ’tough’ a fish is… Only the tendency to make unprovoked attacks and other such behavior…

Wild caught specimen should only be considered as many generations of aquarium breeding removes the benefits that natural selection / “survival of the fittest” has to offer which will alter the evaluations of more common (to aquaria) species…

But regardless of all the scientific questions we ask or angles we consider… the true answer will always be… it varies per individual specimen amongst many different species… and anything after that is spinning your own wheels with no benefit other than misleading yourself and others…

Enjoy your thread…

Oh no, not this again.

This is a question that you'll never get everyone to agree on.

:banhim: :grinno:

nope...because it's all subjective...each fish has its own personality...there's no way to get a true answer

but the 5 star general would be left out of a list of SA/CA aggressive cichlids since they're from Africa :nilly:
