Anyone for Texas cichlids? Never had one but I hear they tear stuff up pretty well...

Red Devil @ 6"
Dovii @ 10" :screwy:
Butti @ 14"

LOL you guys kill me..............This isn't a formal poll, there is no right or wrong answer................what's the point? It gives people such as myself the ability to learn about other types of SA/CA cichlids that perhaps they don't know about, specifically their aggressive tendencies - AKA Tank Busters. What's a Tank Buster?
An overly aggressive fish that is introduced into an established aquarium enviorment and slaughters the exsisting community(seeings how I gotta spell everything out right?)- I think this type of information is important to aquarist and all your input can help other aquarist make an informed decission before they run out and buy the pretty Umbie or Trimac...........besides I was gettin' tired of reading all the "can you sex my 3/4" fish" posts BUT those posts are important to them.

Up until this post I have near ever even heard of a 5 star general cichlid, also researched the Umbie - goregous fish but very large - Thanks for all your info please keep it comin' in all threads not just this one.

thanks for clarifying. you can't imagine how many many many many threads there are on this same topic and how utterly meaningless it is to have polls and what not. it's so subjective.
i'm glad you aren't one of those morons who just want to find out the most aggressive fish, and cram it into their 50 gallon and show it off to their idiot friends.

No way, Texas probably not even in the top 10. Sure you will occasionally run into the hyper aggressive, psychotic killer texas, but on average they are not nearly as aggressive as other species. Here are a few that would definitely be above texas:

beani
haitiensis
citrinellus
labiatus
umbie
festae
zaliosus
zonatus
fenestratus
bifasciatus
dovii
grammodes
trimaculatus

Just my $0.02.

With that thought in mind, I'd be happy to stumble across a "tell me about your super aggressive Cichlid" Thread... But read back on these types of threads and see that the vast majority of answers are a name of a species, or a short list of species, with little to no information as to why the particular species was chosen... which 'teaches' no one anything.

Not to mention, the most "aggressive" and the "toughest" are two toally different things... Based on personal experience, convicts are definately one of the most "aggressive" fish I'm familiar with, as on average they will attack/harrass whatever they can... As will all species in the Amphilaphus family...

Inspiring education is a beautiful thing... inspiring people to scream the name of a fish... not so much...

Might sound silly but pound for pound the meanest fish i have ever had was a psycho firemouth. I know they are usually sissies but i had one that was ultra insane. As a matter of fact, through all the years of keeping cichlids he was the only one to ever have a name. Ash.
