I have a planted 55. (pic)
stocking, as of yesterday:
10x small rainbows 2-3"
BN pair (may be breeding - I'm hoping they are.) 5"
3x angles 3.5"
breeding kribensis pair. male 4", female 2.5"

This morning, two of my angels were mauled, and hiding in the hornwort. Their fins were ripped up, and they were swimming funny.

This is out of the blue. They have all coexisted fine for months, during which time the kribs have bred many times. I do feel the male krib *may* be growing more aggressive, but if it was him why leave #3 unharmed? If it was angel #3, a planted 55 isn't enough space for 3 angels?

I took out the two beaten angels and put them in a 10g with a baby goldfish. They are doing better already, but can't stay there.

Help please!

I would say it is the Kribensis very aggressive when protecting eggs, wriggler's, or fry. Female Kribs are no angels no pun intended had a female that killed 2 males..

I personally would seperate the Angels from the Kribs. The Angel fish are in harm's way and will be killed. You could get rid of one of the Kribs if you decided to try to keep one in the aquarium.

Can I put the krib pair in a 20, and move my fantail in with the angels? It's the only solution I can come up with.

Are they Pelvicachromis Pulcher if so the 20 will work.
As far as I can tell. Some of the related species are awfully similar and their colors change with their moods.

It's probably pulcher. Other types are rarer and pricier when available..

I reckon it's the third angel, they are cichlids after all, hyperdominant male taken over control maybe
