Whts The Deal With These Large Black's Dropping Off???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Seem like you caught him in early stage. Raise temp to 86F-88F, and add salt (3g/L). It's best if you have a quarantine tank for him, drop the water level as low as possible, just barely cover its back (water level 1-2" above its back). It will help the arowana not using its strength try to keep it float. Good luck! I lost 4 arowana the past 3-4 months (2 are black, 1 leichardti) :( It seems like black or leichardti are more sensitive than their cousin, silver or jardini.

X2 on this one...
Heat and salt also stimulate better eating habbits and digestion

I thought so too, but i lost my big silver recently too.

I lost 4 blacks in 2 months. ( talking 2 footers here )

They never stopped eating with gusto ( although many many aro's go on hunger strike )

One was beaten up by my RTG, so that does not count.

The other 3, I am not sure what happened. At first I thought they had been beaten (or at least harassed to death ) by a Xback, but they had no outward signs of agression.

They died one after the other in the space of one week. ( I did not notice any awkward swimming signs )

Params all right. Xback in awesome condition ( as well as the other fish )

Reading the above stuff made me wonder....

i never knew. i thought they were hardy fish. Something is not right about all this. I blame several deaths that i have had Armatus, and my black on my tig. once the lights go out he is on the prowl. I have decided to not shut the lights off, until i can move some fish around so he dont kill everything. (i dont know for sure it was him though)

Like what was said above, i noticed no damage to his body at all.

I wonder how JohnPTC and A Importz fish are? they both have mobs of adult or close to adult sized blacks- maybe one of them could shed some light on the subject

i should have tried this weeks ago :screwy:
