Whts The Deal With These Large Black's Dropping Off???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a solo black that died at 24".
Tail started to drop, stopped eating, ended up at the bottom of the tank and I had to put him out of his misery.

Seems like something changes in their needs when they hit that 20 plus inch mark. Every loss sucks. Sorry for all of your losses.

Well a little update on my big black.. I've heard of hunger strikes on aro's but this tops all the aro's I've owned before.. It's now been 4 months since my black ate and out of the blue he pounded a whole tilapia fillet about 15 minutes ago.. Not sure how he's made it this long but sure glad he did. Now hopefully he doesn't pull this crap again.. He's all fat and happy now though.. :)

:headbang2 Awsome news, definitely the longest I've heard or remember. Can only imagine how nerve racking that mustve been. I've had a couple of mine go a few weeks or go with just minimal amounts for a whlie but nothing like yours. Must just be that time of year as all 4 of mine are hitting the food hard now, makes for wet times during feedings :naughty:

By far the longest any of mine has ever went. When i got him he went a month without eating and ate like a champ until one day in the 1st week of December he just stopped. To be honest i was just waiting for him to die being he wouldn't eat. Very happy he's back and hitting the Tilapia fillets hard. :) He scared the crap out of all the fish in the tank when he attacked the 2nd piece i dropped in..:headbang2

I don't think barometric pressure would affect them, as water is an incompressible* liquid.

*Well, we treat it that way, but it is slightly compressible under tremendous pressure, not the sort you get from the atmosphere.

Then why does it effect bass so much? I have read several books about bass and it is a huge part in feeding habits, breading, activity levels and so on.:screwy:

Just google- barometric pressure and fishing
