Don't forget that the vendor pays a certain amount of money for the fish and to bring the fish in as well. He deserves to make money on top for his efforts, otherwise, he'd be out of business. Specialty fish aren't cheap even on the vendor's cost level anymore. Many places are well informed as to the prices that rarities get in the world today and price their wares accordingly.

Not to mention finding a source to get white ones. Finding Tropical gars are hard as it is finding a place to get white ones is even harder.

When neons were first introduced they were $10 each...

Its all about supply and demand.

here is another one how white gar might come about... there is SUPPLY and DEMAND..

we the hobbyist (world-wide) set the standard for the price of the fish... if no one want them... it will go down... and vise-versa....

Golden gar (3 diffrent fish 3 diffrent year) 2k -> 4k -> 5k.... guess you will not get a golden gar for less than 5k..

Snowy AUL (1 fish).... from 100k -> 50k -> 30k ... finally sold at 30k

Platium gator gar .... with some spots $9k and spotless $27.5k

i wonder how much does a golden barramundi worth?

I dunno, how much does a golden barramundi worth? haha.

I would love to see that snowy lung...that would be crazy. the only one in the world...talk about a nervous fish keeper!

Anyone remember that thread on the other board about that male Umbee? The seller wanted an ungodly amount of money for it and it caused chaos amongst the members. The fact is, people have the right to sell what they want for whatever price they see fit. In the same light, the buyer can pay whatever they deem acceptable for any fish they want. Need I remind you of those $50,000 Asian Arowanas or $1,000,000 koi?
