Why A Solo Fish ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I keep my jag by itself . I have tried putting other fish with it and it kills them everytime.

I find it kinda boring tbh

People like to think that a single fish becomes more "personable", "attached" or dog-like... even though this is far from reality. What happens most of the times is the fish either 1. wants to kill you, chase you out of its territory or 2. knows you will drop food in the water. Fish aren't dogs, they aren't "greeting" you or begging you to pet them no matter how much it looks like it.

For me there's nothing like a nice community of aggressive fish interacting with each other... and they still come up for food.

exactly :), btw i've seen the"interaction but it doesn't seem different from anything my Convict or JD's ever done :/

also i was just asking a question noo need for some of you to give mee attitude or try to make me sound stupid.

I have a 90 right now with a 3 yr old midas and 8 tiger barbs...I also have a 135 community and I can sit in front of both for a long time. The solo fish is awesome..he acts like an idiot when I am around, always going up and down up and down, flaring...he has never been in a fight, bit, looks amazing with long trailers and a nice lil hump. The pack of barbs is awesome in there, I enjoyed it when he was solo, and I enjoy it now that there is a school in there too. I had a FH in a 75 solo for a while..loved that too. DOnt complain about ppl bashing you when you act as though we are wasting our tanks on one fish. Maybe you have not found the right fish. And I do disagree with above, my fish will do this well after hes done eating..there could be pellets floating all around him and he will still perk up when I am around and almost show off. Perhqps you ans cac boy know all

yeah your right. i was wrong for trying to make the midas sound like a bad fish :/ i guess i was just mad because it killed 80 bucks worth of fish lol . but i'll keep it because i know remember from reading a (VERY) old thread why i liked the midas and why community tanks issn't for me .

I have a 2" JD in a 40 gallon solo because even at his small size he has already killed another 2" JD and tried to kill my new geo's, so now I have a geo species tank with silver dollars and my solo JD and he will prolly be a solo fish his whole life

Will your JD and convict let u touch them or will they bite ur hand and arm???

I like Jd but them and convicts don't compare to the personality of some other fish!

That's why people get offended because you are making
Assumptions and have no experience to back your self up.

Try listening to these guys and Gals and you will learn alot

I like communities and solo tanks. The only reason I ever keep fish solo is because having tankmates would either definitely create compatibility issues, or most likely would and would require all kinds of management. I can also see if someobody is raising a show quality fish like a big Green Terror or Umbee, they wouldn't want it fighting and also would want to be able to care for it very, very specifically and carefully.

A solo fish automatically becomes a show piece.

are you illiterate ? i clearly posted that I OWN A MIDAS so i do have experience . i'll get rid of my midas and get a flowerhorn , and i already learned alot i've been here for almost a year now :P

I recently moved my Jag into a 125 by himself and he is showing a lot more colour in his fins and is behaving a lot bolder which suggests to me that he is happier with his new environment.
