Why am I still able to buy illegal fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
His reading skills could use a touch up. The state website is pretty clear about what is restricted here. And spiney eels and peacock bass aren't on the list.
I'm sorry but it does say "all species" of fresh water eels and you are correct it said temperate bass not peacock bass sorry I'm not that into bass so before just now when rechecking I didn't differentiate.

What fish is it that you are wanting to buy?
And just to let you know I was looking into freshwater stingrays and like most I want an arapaima at some point however not even the pond I have at my disposal will be large enough for this guy full grown

At this time only SA rays are on the list as are arapaima. I have seen a few rocket gar and wolfish on some stock lists but that's about it.

Those are true eels not spiney eels. When looking at the list family names are what matters.
Finally someone answered the question I was confused about with this website. when it said all species I thought it meant all species in general. Thank you! I don't usually bother learning all the sientific names and crap that's way to much depth man.

its 100x more worth learning the Greek/Latin taxonomy than English common names. There can be DOZENS of different English common names, but the Greek/Latin name will always be accurate on every Continent

Yeah. I wouldn't believe a state run website at all, they're just out there to spread propaganda about invasive species and laws that fish keepers don't want.

Frank Castle Frank Castle J jaws7777 am I wrong?

As T.O would say getcha popcorn ready !!!

Dont understad the thread....why not just ask the manager at the lfs that are selling these banned fish

I don't understand the purpose of this thread either.
Sorry man I was just wondering what that link I found was saying like for some reason I found it doing research on freshwater stingrays and it came up saying all these fish were illegal and I got confused so I asked about it and someone clarified it for me. I was really confused at first because I thought it was saying half the big fish for sale in my LFS were actually illegal to keep but I just read it wrong guess I'll have to go in and learn the Latin names for these fish.

I can see where you are coming from. Now it is clarified. No need to be sorry :).
