Why are pikes so underrated?

Depends on the pike. There are some pretty funky looking pikes out there, but you can't say that a female Rio Trombetas marm in full breeding colors isn't hott.

But to each his own. African cichlids are beautiful, but just don't hold my interest. Its just my personal preference.

Why is it that this is the only fish that induces threads like this?

Because no other fish is close to the beauty, the personality, Etc...
