My guess is that usually when a fish is outlawed in an area there is a concern that it could be released into the local waters and do harm to native fish populations. The climate there does not seem to suit pirahna or other tropical fish so the question stands....Why are they illegal?

Well i figured out why he said it was chilly, just wasnt computing it for some reason. Asked my buddy and he said it is because they can be released into the waters and survive, the waters need to be above 63 or so for a piranha to survive and thrive. My best guess is somebody awhile ago released some piranhas into the water and they where found and then made illegal.

They did studies and found rbp in FL and other warm cities, rbp cant survive in a block of ice!!

TEMP HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH IT

RIGHT TO BARE ARMS AND FISH!

Even piranhas and pacus are struggling to survive in southern United States and it appeared that they cannot even reproduce in United States.

If u put adult fish in the wild it will die because its used to being fed daily but if u take fry and put them in during spring by next year they would be full sized and have adapted our major water sources like the colombia or pugetsound stay the same temp year round but perfect size unfreezable lakes make great breeding grounds.people and dinosaurs adapted to survive where are fish different

It could be because Washington state contains 30 hot springs and enough riverside powerplants discharging warm coolant water exhaust to keep large areas inhabitable for piranhas.
