i see Dats with peacock bass a lot.. aren't Dats from CA or SA anyway? i don't know.. seems like it wouldn't be a problem as long as the other fish don't bother them. My peacock bass don't bother my snooks..

they are mainly found around the Asian (think that is what you call it) areas I believe not in the Americas...

NO wolf does NOT really like Dats... he IS however intrested in hearing about why they (and others) seem to be so popular on MFK.

The thread is far more intresting and valad than a great many others started here and is an oppertunity to provide information to hobbiests who may in fact BE intrested.

If asked in a similar thread (not this one) about the RTC I'd be more than happy to explain my attraction...without, I might add, making comments about the validity of the original post.

Again I am not trying to offend or attack you in anyway nor do I want to question the validity of your post; but if this was your intention then I appologize if you took a slight offense to what I had posted; but if it was in fact a thread to benifit other hobbyists then it should've been worded another way. You post destinctly states "Convince ME" thus my response.
Again I appologize if I misinterpreted your post but this is what it sounds like...

I have never used "Me" for a term for a group a people, Me means Me, Myself and I. For a group of people you should say, Us, them, They etc.

Can I go back and ADD "Freakin awesome" to the list of words not to use?

Well you asked why people like them! :D
Its not really something based on just hard facts. Yes there are things like size and compatibility with other fish you want to keep, but most people are attracted to fish for more 'emotional' reasons. People have different tastes, I can't justify why I'm attracted to ornate bichirs but not albinos by a list of hard concrete evidence, I just like/don't like them.

I don't care for the look of most albinos either...

I was just kidding about the descriptions... Like I said earlier this thread is for owners of Dats to tell the world why they are so great.

Why do you need to be convinced to like something? If you don't like them, then don't like them, thats fine, not everyone has the same taste. I personally dont like p-bass, you all can try to convince me all day long to like them. And I don't have anything against people who do like them. But at the end of the day it's not going to change my opinion.

Basically if you need it explained to you, your not getting it in the first place. ;)

I belive the average level of comprehention slipped a few rungs on the ladder...

Come on people...this a fun excercize to allow fans of Dats the oppertunity to pass on the reasons they love thier chosen pet.

Are we really all THAT anxious for confrontation that we have to read it into everything we see? Why not just take the question as presented and either answer it or ignore it?

Why dats? Because my husband keeps buying them

If it were up to me I'd have mostly native fish tanks.

I do see the attraction to them though. If you want a large unique looking fish, with some interesting behavior they're a good choice.
They kind of look like something that could be found in the ocean rather than freshwater but you don't need a marine tank to keep them.
They're not overly aggressive, they can be housed with other species, so they're a good choice for a large semi-aggressive community tank.

they are mainly found around the Asian (think that is what you call it) areas I believe not in the Americas...

Yup, they're from Asia. None to be found in south or central america.
