Why did it die

Yeah I have but I know what did it. It was a depletion of oxygen cause I forgot to angle the spray bar up after a water change. Went to bed shut the lights off woke up the next morning to a dead Bala shark and 2 dead parrot fish. I will never do it again. Sounds like the same thing happened here yet everyone is still arguing about it. My guess... Oxygen depletion.

There is a fundamental flaw with canister set up if mis placing the spray bar can cause oxygen depletion and death. Any filtration system in operation ought to add oxygen to, not to deplete oxygen from the tank. You must allow your canister to gunk up and operate like a septic tank.

Huh? Some of us don't use spray bars at all.
