I bought my fahaka when I only had a 55 but as soon as I got him I started hunting for a bigger tank and it only took me 2-3 months to find one.

Uneducated fish keepers that don't feel the need to do the proper research, mainly due to buying on impulse, seeing something they like and thinking it will be okay in their x gallon tank for life.
That's why it's great to have access to fish keeping forums so members and non-members alike can read about useful fish keeping etiquette and what works and what doesn't, sharing valuable knowledge with one another is a beautiful thing.

I have three baby Oscars in a 45gal tank. Together with 2 sunfish.
I know they'll get to big sometime, but my tank setups are changing each year.
I have a 66gal tank downstairs with only small fish in it, maybe they'll move there.
Next to that, my brother has a 200gal fishtank, so he may adopt them eventually.
As a last resort there is a indoor fishpond nearby which is full of guppies so I could always dump them there. Enough options, but as for now, I like to have those babies in my room in their 45gal.

I started off with a small tank(29g) stocked with baby monsters..lol. I did this on purpose, I knew how big they would get. I used the small tank to get the wife hooked so she would approve of upgrades
. She now helps me out and we enjoy growing out these beasts together. We went from a 29g to 2) 180g, 2)75g, and a 40g "Q" tank at the moment
. My wife and I really enjoy our fish, growing them out and picking up rescues from un-informed people

Yeah when I was a kid I boght things that looked cool not expecting them to live long enough for their adult size to matter.
But since I rejoined the hobby 6 years ago I've always kept adult size in mind. I have many tanks and I frequently shift fish around to mix up things.

i bought a jack dempsey for my 55 by itsself and a 4 line pictus catfish so i had to upgrade to a 120.
