i've seen a lot of these for sale lately, any reason why?

i was thinking of buying one but am having second thoughts...

I don't know why either, but they are great filters. I have on and I won't buy any other larger except for a FX5. Best filter I have ever owned. Lots of media, great flow rate, and extremely quite.

I know a few other people who own one and they feel the same way

It has to be a reason, i bought mine new and sold it with in 8 months, a lot people say its the best thing and i did belive it but after six months of service i retire the thing and i tell you why.
First eheim 2028 baskets hold more media then the fx5 and made the comparison filling the baskets of the fx5 then put it on the 2028.
Second you can use any polyfiber because gurgle problem it took me a while to figure it out what was the problem, and i remenber coming home after work and the thing was shooting bubles with little flow that was the last thing i wanted to do star playing with it, i seen a lot people in here with the same problem.
So not enougth media for the size of the bucket, not able to use polishing pads, now this its about personal taste, i dont like the intake it looks like a big computer mouse, the hoses specially if you use it on high temp they tend to crack, the plastic know with metal screws for the lid they brake no brainer metal and plastic dont get alone.
A good filter should be versatile, reliable and for that size should hold more media, eheim 2250 with 1260 pump blows away fx5. I know a lot fx5 wil be ofended by this but its true, fx5 its a good filter but no the best i had it and i would not buy onother .

i've owned 2 them and sold both. the only reason i did was i needed the money to get a bigger tank. probably going to get another one after i set up my new tank and let my wet/dry cycle first. wish i hadn't sold them but what can i do now.

i have had one on my 240 for over a year now and i love the thing. the input and output novels are kinda crappy. the output novel never stayed on so i plan on making a modified spray bar. read they work great. i'm thinking about buying another fx5 because i'm putting an 8' 110 gal on a rack above my 8' 240. have the returns pump into the top tank and gravity feed down. sorry for derailing but yeah i love fluval and haven't had a bad filter from them yet. just my opinion

iv had mine for a year now and after 20 years of keeping fish its the best filter iv ever had, i also had polyfiber im mine without any trouble. i run the fx5 on a 6x2x2 plus a eheim 2028 and within the next few months i wil sell the eheim and replace it with another fx5. they are so easy to keep clean and the flow rate is great plus really quiet, but its each to there own.

mine is collecting dust in the garage and im not selling it! theyre the best canister filters you can get for the money. the majority of problems are usually user error

I used Eheim's forever but using the FX5 for over a month i'm in love with them. Best filters in the market!!

I have 3, i'm only selling mine cuz i only need 2 running on my 180 gallon

I sold mine and felt naked without it so I bought another one. Best filter so far!
