I think their sickle-shaped tail makes them very strong fast swimmers, along with their large pectoral & anal fins which make them very agile. They're like underwater helicopters, going any direction any time... Even if another fish does manage to catch them, then they still have the spines to deal with!
so u guys think i can get some 3" clowns in my dat tank? biggest dat is a ntt at 8". i threw in some 4" goldfish to test out the size and they had no chance.
fish know each other, so i think its cuz of the stipes. an arowana wouldnt want to die choking on a loaches stipes...ive had loaches with several predators, only 1 that ate 2 loaches so far was my lepisosteus ocullatus
When I had my endli's they ate 2 cl bigger than their heads, and I caught a 3rd one clamped sideways in the mouth of my endli. I think there skittish movements attracted the poly's. Lesson learned.
There like zebras! When in big groups the lion(big predator) cannot pick out the single fish and reconizes them as a large group. But it doesn't work as well for th zebras as the clowns...
