why do people think oscars are wimps

Thanks guys i geus they can be wimps but they have a wonderful personality!!!! Thanks!!!!

Just my opinion oscars are just aggressive eaters. Some that I have owned show aggression to newly introduced oscars but 9 times out of 10 receive the worst end of the things when they go against a cichlid who won't back down and really are aggressive. Just look at the Oscars facial structure and you can see in a lip lock they have very little chance with most other cichlids there size. Oscars are a lot of thing but a aggressive or mean cichlid isn't one!

imo it depends on their personality because some oscars can be mean and some (like mine) can be the most peaceful fish ever usually oscars dont fight that much unless another fish tries to attack them but sometimes they are really aggressive even if they are normally peaceful but when people say they are wimpy its usually in comparison of fish that are really aggressive that attack everything like red devils

What do you want people to compare them too???? How about tetras??? Compared to jags, midas, devils, grammodes, dovii, umbee, i could keep this going for a while. I had a 10 inch oscar that picked on everything i put in my very first tank when i started the hobby. He grew up with another oscar and almost killed it too. I then put him in with a pleco and he left it alone most of the time. Then i threw a 5 inch JD and the oscar turned into a nerd gettin stuffed into the locker. Like it was said before, they are aggressive eaters and thats about it except for a few. But you cant consider anything aggressive unless you compare it to aggressive fish.

depends on situation

My oscar likes to taste new fish in his tank, but he rarely goes far enough to hurt them. He might be trying to scare them away, or he might think of them as toys. Not sure exactly, but the commonality is that he usually stops messing with the new fish once he's gotten a hold of their tail for a second...long enough to taste the fish. Could he hols his own against a Midas? NEVER. He's peaceful, all the way. Hungry, but peaceful.

I had a oscar kill my pacu and break 2 tanks but lb 4 lb a convict is more aggressive
