Why do you keep fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just keep them because they are interesting and somewhat of a challenge to keep (it keeps me busy, at least). I'm really not too worried about fish dying. To be honest, with the exception of my TT eel, I would see the death one of my fish as more of a money loss than anything else, and most of my fish didn't even cost that much, so it's not that big of a deal to me. I just do the best I can to keep them alive and healthy, and if they die anyway, then it's not the end of the world. But so far, I haven't lost a single fish since I set up my 220 in July of '09 (with the exception of most of the danios I cycled it with).

The same reason anyone keeps pets, because as humans we have some weird compulsion to keep and care for lesser animals. I don't know that it can be explained, it's instinct.

-I love almost everything related with water.
-Help me relaxing & give me time to think and spend time with myself.
-I learn so much about life watching them.
-Like to show and teach people about fish.

You say that like we're the only ones, but really, ants do the same thing (although they do it for food, but still...). It isn't instinct for us though, it is really just a kind of indirect result of curiosity, imo.

another reason is because if i see a fish that need help i try to rescue them from bad LFS. ;)

... For hundreds of reasons now, however.. what started it ..

was exactly what I needed once I returned home from Tour..
