i like the fh wiv gud color an a huge kok.its kool cause its diff then otha fish.

Many wild-type cichlids naturally have koks (nuchal humps).

Just as flowerhorns are bred to have super-natural color, aggression, etc, some are also bred to have super big heads. Some people like it. Some don't. It's taste.

I know cichlids naturally have the nuchal hump but we(people) have made them so huge it makes it more difficult to eat and harder to swim. Im ok with koks half the size of the head MAXIMUM. If I bought a Flowerhorn and ended up with one with a huge kok I would be fine. I have tried thinking of how someone would like this and I think I understand.

It's part of the fish's genetics. Not just flowerhorns but the purebred fish that were used to create them to. It's the same reason as if I keep midas I want it to have a big head. Fish with big lumps on their heads are usually the best glass bangers in my experience. If I'm going to keep flowerhorns I want to keep the nicest/best quality ones. Watching a flowerhorn grow a giant nuchal hump is part of raising them. It has a lot to do with genetics but the better condition you keep them in the bigger their head is going to grow. It is rewarding watching them grow a huge head because you know you're doing something right.

If you're trying to figure out why they're more expensive/sought after it is as simple as the fact that they are rare. Fish with giant heads like you're talking about are hard to come by but when they're available they're worth good money if they are fertile. If you were breeding flowerhorns you'd want a male with a giant head compared to a male with a small head because of the percentage of fry that are going to end up as nice as the parents is usually low.

Im into Fh's cause of the nice colors and the kok is just a plus. I dont like huge ones. My FH in my avatar has a not to big/small kok just perfect...
