why does evryone hate blood parrot

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like them but have to agree some look better than others. The pic above is a nice Blood Parrot and some have a rather strange look but hey it all boils down to what you like. I'm fine with them just no dyed fish for me.

By that measure, just about any man-made fish could fall into that category: fancy goldfish, discus, bettas, livebearers, angels, EBJD, etc, etc, etc.

SOMEONE must like them, since they seem to sell pretty well...

Matt

My LFS owner said he sells them out as fast as he gets them in. People are buying these fish rather you like them or not. I personally don't have a problem with them, just get them from a good source.

It's "dye" guys... Not die. Hopefully no one is keeping zombie blood parrots.

Zombies are undead, geez. Still I agree I do not think Zombie fish is a good idea. That's how it all starts, first they start breeding Zombie fish then the virus jumps to Humans and then you have Will Smith and a Dog the only residence of Manhattan.

The OP asked a question don't take it personal or let people's opinions of a fish hurt your feelings (that's kind of sad). I have nothing against recessive bred fish or even hybrids. Some flowerhorns are stunning, some are also freaks. IMO (and many others) blood parrots are just plain ugly, sure breeders are breeding the ugly out but most of what I see at chains and LFSs have that crossed eyed slack jaw idiot look without a doubt, most cannot even close their mouths.

And as far as the popular = "right" argument, I remember way back in school, some of the most popular girls are not necessarily the best looking, they were the "easy" ones, some were down right ugly or dumb. Also I would not say the average petsmart shopper has the best taste in fish or base their decisions based on anything but buying the biggest brightest fish they see

I wasn't aware that Discus and Jack Dempsey's were man made but most fancy goldfish are also horrible creations, especially the ones that have eyes that look like loose, jiggly boobs. With all of the fish that nature has given us there is just no need for someone to try and play God and create other fish....Apparently quite a few people do like them, along with painted glass fish and fish with hearts tatooed onto their sides....different strokes for different folks I guess.

Man has been playing God way before fish.

It's like with modern English bulldogs. Lots of them have health issues and breathing problems but people keep them because of their personality. I prefer staffies or American bulldogs just as I prefer non deformed blood parrot.
My bp don't seem to be mentally challenged if anything they are smart enough to be top fish in the tanks I keep them in.
