why does evryone hate blood parrot

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
By that measure, just about any man-made fish could fall into that category: fancy goldfish, discus, bettas, livebearers, angels, EBJD, etc, etc, etc.

SOMEONE must like them, since they seem to sell pretty well...

Matt

Half of those fish you mentioned are not man made!!! Fancy goldfish are the only fish in your statement that are man made..

^a lot of the fish quoted are line bred for different color morphs so yes you could accurately describe them as being man made.

Some of the lower blood parrot in the lfs should be culled because of the defect. There are some really nice parrot/king kong that are not often seen at lfs. What parrot lack in look, the are very reactive to the owner.

i currently have two blood parrots and i thought they were ugly as can be when we bought them, but we got them cause my gf wanted them. now they r two of my fish that i will not part with. they deff grow on you and do have alot of personality. i was at one of my near by lfs today and they had bp with no tails.the bodies looked heart shaped. i asked the woman that owns the place and she said i was the only one that noticed they had no tails and she said they had alot of them and only two left. they swam around fine but idk if id want one.

Take this! I don't see ugly or deformed. She's one of my favorite fish.

I kept fish when I was in highschool then sold my tank when I joined the military. Now that I am out and settled in one place I started with a 30gal and got blood parrots. I have since upgraded multiple times and traded out stock but have always came back/stuck with blood parrots. To me, they are very owner reactive, don't get too big where you have to have a monstrous tank to house them and I love their coloration (un-dyed). Currently I have 7 spread throughout my tanks and they are always the fish visitors respond to and like. Most importantly, I like them. But too each his/her own.

They makes great fish for a community tank without worrying about aggressive issues you seen in most American cichlids.
